Mardi Gras, aka "Fat Tuesday," is the feasting before the fasting of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. The Mardi Gras season starts after Christmas on 12th Night, aka "Three Kings", and culminates on Mardi Gras evening at Midnight, signaling the beginning of the Lenten Season, on Ash Wednesday.
